BLESSED SANCTUARY

The sun appears orange
Over the pines
Warming an already
Humid day
A bird clicks and crows
A mate answers

The air is stone still
No breeze
Except from my
Ceiling fan overhead
Still, still, still
Is the movement
Of the earth
All around me

It is 6:00 a.m.
On my back
Screened-in porch
My favorite part of the day
Peaceful and quiet
Like my thoughts
In this blessed sanctuary.
